September brings cooler weather, new school friends and classrooms, and A LOT of new babies! If you are a parent expecting a baby this month, you have much to look forward to. Here in the northern hemisphere, we get to experience the change of the season – where summer slips into fall. Crisper air is beginning to blow by, and in many areas, the harvest is being set to cure for the cold winter months, making this an important time to many! September is the month with the most songs named after and referencing it, which could help mom make a cheeky playlist for baby to enjoy. Here are some more fun facts about babies born in September!

    Fun Facts About September Babies

    A Busy Month!

September holds the record for the most popular birthday month! The 9th month of the year holds nine of ten of the most common shared days to be born. According to a study that looked at birthdays, the most widespread day to be born is the 9th of September, with an average of over 12,000 births! The 19th, 12th, 17th, 10th, 20th, 15th, 16th, and 18th following suit in status. I’d say this sequence proves that parents are really feeling the love and closeness of the holiday season at the end of the year, blessing them with a little one nine months later.

    A Rainbow of Representation

Septembers birthstone is the sapphire, one of the most beloved gems available. Even though when we think of this stone, we picture a deep blue, it actually comes in every color of the rainbow! Sapphires can be pink, green, orange, yellow, purple, and classic blue. Sapphires are naturally occurring and super strong. They score almost perfect on the durability test, and they can go through almost anything and come out on the other side. I’d say a sapphire is a lot like us, Moms. We stand the test of time . . . even after we’ve been put through it all. And we get our precious gems – our new little babies – as our gifts . . . our most precious gems.

    The Earth and The Air

Two zodiac signs represent September. If your little honey comes during the first half of the month, they will fall under Virgo. Virgo is an earth sign that runs until the 22nd and is represented by the goddess of agriculture. A perfect representation during a month dedicated to planting crops. Virgos are born leaders, which can come off as stubborn or bossy, but really they just need good direction to give them a helpful task.

The other September sign, Libra, runs from the 23rd through the end of the month and also thrives on tasks. Libras are driven and rely on balance in their lives, which explains the symbol of the scales. Our new little earth and air signs add so much value to this world. We’re excited to see what they accomplish!

    What’s the Story, Morning Glory?

The ninth month boats two gorgeous flowers with even more beautiful meanings. September’s birth flowers are the Aster and the Morning Glory. The Aster flower is perfect for a baby, as it stands for purity, innocence, and unrequited love.

Despite the constantly changeable weather, wild flowers such as this Morning Glory or Bindweed and cultivated blooms appear in a multitude of colours to brighten the dramatic landscape of the Somerset Levels and steep ridges of the outdoors countryside scenery during summer in Somerset, England, UK

Morning Glories are perhaps the most representative of new life – as their petals open up slowly each morning, almost like they rebloom each day. Moms, this may be a way we can look at motherhood with our new little ones. Each day is a fresh start! Also, are these plants not the perfect floral monikers for a little September babe?!

    Top of the Class!

September-born children tend to be up in the front of the pack! These kids tend to dominate the classroom and the sports fields alike. You’ll be busy with activities to keep their minds sharp and their skills at top-notch! Although, it could have so much to do with their births being lined up with new school years. Children born in September are the oldest in their classes, with a full 9-to-11-month leap ahead of their peers born the following summer. You will likely notice your child being bigger in stature and hitting milestones quicker than their immediate peers, too. Make sure you teach them to be inclusive so they can take some of the younger kids under their wing!

    The Star of Your Heart
